Courtney Hickling is the author behind The Missing Reflection, the first book in a planned Hexwood Chronicles series. This supernatural mystery plunges a skeptical journalist into a world of hidden magic and ancient forces. Her debut novel draws readers into a spine-chilling journey, with a dark academia vibe reminiscent of Leigh Bardugo’s Ninth House and the suspense of Simone St. James’ thrillers, blending mystery, tension, and the unsettling pull of the unknown.

She writes across mystery and suspense, cozy mysteries, romance thrillers, and eerie middle-grade/YA stories. Yet, every story shares one thing: a truth waiting to be uncovered, but there will always be a cost.

Courtney is currently continuing The Hexwood Chronicles, with Book Two, The Bleeding Veil, arriving in Summer 2026 as Bria's story deepens into a darker mystery.

A veteran and military spouse currently stationed in North Carolina, Courtney brings a unique perspective to her writing. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing, an MA in New Media Journalism, and an MBA, equipping her to craft immersive, emotionally grounded stories. With extensive experience in instructional design, content creation, and technical writing, she translates complex ideas into compelling, accessible content.
